Why impact sourcing matters for your business

For a young woman in a remote village, where education opportunities are scarce, but employment opportunities are even scarcer – life is hard.

Which is why when I’m presented with that frequently asked question, “What’s your proudest moment?” I’m happy to talk about a program known as Impact Sourcing – a pillar of VXI Global Solutions’ operations in Jamaica since 2016.

Through the Avasant Foundation, which works to empower disadvantaged youth to succeed in the new digital economy, VXI has created employment opportunities and paths to advance in life.

Contact center operations rely on a variety of traits and capabilities in employees, including punctuality, professionalism, and a desire to learn and grow.

Jamaica is the largest island in the English-speaking Caribbean, and the most populated with nearly 3 million people. But poverty, inequality and access to education are high outside its tourism centers. Avasant recruits, vets and provides basic training to local job candidates who have demonstrated the ability and motivation to succeed in the customer experience economy. VXI partners by lending training resources, financial sponsorship, and employment opportunities for Avasant participants.

As future employees of VXI, we then introduce the candidates to our proprietary training on VXI’s procedures, client-focused mission, and technologies – including our Training Simulator Tool, which you might compare to the simulated training used to prepare airline pilots to fly in real-world situations.

The success

Impact sourcing might sound like a “feel-good” program. But in reality, the benefits for VXI and our clients are well worth the investment. Our Avasant hires have been stellar employees – they never have problems with attendance, punctuality, willingness to be coached, and other issues that sometimes challenge contact centers. We’ve found that they learn, grow and become excellent teammates despite their sociological background.

At VXI in Jamaica, I’ve been fortunate to meet and work with so many talented young women and men who have faced adversities that exist only based on their geographic circumstances. Our company believes in Jamaican talent; partnered with our technology and Passion for People culture; we believe that we can expand operations and continue to mentor Jamaicans to be successful in the BPO industry.

You can learn more about impact sourcing, and the award that Avasant earned from IAOP (International Association of Outsourcing Professionals) in this post.

I welcome the opportunity to share with you the win/win of partnering with VXI and reaping the benefits of impact sourcing.
